Our first Foundation day took place on Wednesday 17th July 2019.
Mr Matt Barron, the headmaster at St John’s Catholic Comprehensive School, was instrumental in pulling this day together. Ricki had attended St John’s Schools, as had Sue, Ricki’s mother, so a fitting place to start.
Warren Wood and Robert Moyce, PGA Professionals at Rochester & Cobham Golf Club donated their time to teach the children.
The children learnt to putt and then were challenged to score points by putting to targets. They were taught how to grip and swing a club on the driving range.
Lunchtime and afternoon were spent at Bluewater Shopping Centre. After some food, the children attended Gravity Trampoline Park experiencing Wall Climbing and Trampolining.
Each child participated in all activities, a testament to them as individuals. As spectators, we were delighted to experience the fun and joy the children had and witness the happy expressions on their faces.
The day was finished off with 18 holes at Pirates Cove Mini Golf, giving the children the opportunity to apply their newly learned putting skills.
The lessons obviously worked as there were a number of Hole-in-Ones scored, 3 by one individual! The shouts of joy were heard around the course.
